Rock the Creek. We love the name too! Thanks to Stephanie Gilbert who is the world’s best “namer,” bar none!
At the end of 2005 Bob traded in his business casual clothes for shorts and race t-shirts. Instead of poring over detailed corporate documents he now calculates the optimal number of portable toilets per participant and frets over whether the women’s small t-shirts are too small or will actually fit! At any given time he has dozens of boxes of race stuff in his house. Stop by and take a look!
In addition to founding and co-directing the Rock the Creek Relay, Bob is the co-founder and director of the American Odyssey Relay and the founder of the Old Glory Relay. Bob has also directed less complex races like 5Ks run during the middle of the night. . . .
Prior to re-inventing himself as Race Director Bob, Fleshner was a healthcare executive. Before that he was Vice President of Legal Affairs for Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey, which was the perfect training ground for race directing. Bob is a member of the board of AthleteBiz and the founding chairman of Teens Run DC.
Joanna is the co-founder and co-director of the Rock the Creek Relay. She is an ultra marathoner, multiple time American Odyssey Relay and Old Glory Relay participant. When she’s not answering the siren call of race directing, Joanna is an Ironman triathlete, membero proud military spouse, and Director of Academics at Veritas Prep. That’s a fancy way of saying she geeks out on psychometrics, is really good at standardized test taking and getting folks into college. And, in her spare time, Joanna is very active with her alma mater, Georgetown University, and sits on both the Team Red, White and Blue board of directors and the Women For Tri Board of Advisors.
