Despite our best efforts, we will not be able to hold the 2021 Rock The Creek Running Festival on Saturday, September 25, 2021. COVID-19 and rising Delta variant numbers have significantly impacted our ability to hold a safe race. We are disappointed and apologize for any inconvenience this causes to our valued runners.
If you are looking for a fun relay in the Spring, we’ll be back with the 2022 American Odyssey (Friday, April 29-Saturday, April 30, 2022) and Potomac Odyssey Relay (Saturday, April 30, 2022)
Rock The Creek Running Festival
Whether you are the type of runner who rolls out of bed and runs 20 miles or 20 minutes, the Rock the Creek Running Festival is for you!
We’ve expanded the Rock The Creek Relay this year and added multiple distances for individuals – and a longer relay team option. We hope to encourage greater participation and a chance for everyone to get out and enjoy a beautiful fall day. We have multiple distances and team events.
It’s local! All Rock the Creek Running Festival events are held in beautiful Rock Creek Park and start and finish at Lake Needwood Park. All individual races will be run along the same course as the Rock The Creek Relay. Each of our six legs of the relay are beautiful and eminently doable. The legs are between a bit under 4 and about 6 miles. If you want a bigger team challenge, run as team of three and do two legs! Or run as a team of two and run three legs each!
The Rock the Creek Running Festival is open to runners 16 or older on race day. Great music and food at the finish.
Above all, this is about fun: Teams are encouraged to be creative with their team name and team t-shirts. Everyone will enjoy a beautiful shaded course – and lots of fun along the way.
Last but not least, the Rock the Creek Running Festival is directed and operated by JR Running, the parent company of the American Odyssey Relay and Potomac Odyssey Relay – we’ll make sure your run is fun, safe and well-organized! We use all local vendors for shirts, swag, signs, etc. And when you email Rock the Creek Relay, you get an answer. From us. Not an automated response!
